Our studies with respect to Linux

To make a decision on migration to Linux as a desktop system, a usability evaluation is essential. By that reason, relevantive AG conducts usability studies or expert inspections of current linux applications every six to nine months.

Primarily, the KDE desktop is evaluated as usability is a major concern in that project. Thanks to the close collaboration of KDE and relevantive, suggestions are affiliated and implemented in an innovative way.

Linux Usability Study
(July 2003)

relevantive AG designed and executed a series of usability tests that included typical desktop application tasks. 60 test persons were presented with individual tests in an adapted Linux environment, a further control group of 20 test persons performed identical tasks on Windows XP.

The analysis of these tests revealed which usability problems are to be expected when migrating to Linux, and which measurements and trainings are necessary to improve the usability, hence the wide acceptance of Linux as a desktop system.
